CreaTech Cornwall launches with bold new cohort of creative tech innovators

CreaTech Cornwall has received £283,460 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The first cohort of 15 early-stage creative tech innovators from across Cornwall will benefit from mentoring, workshops, access to cutting-edge technology, and micro seed funding

A new round of applications opens in September for Cornwall’s next wave of innovators

A new chapter for Cornwall’s creative digital sector is underway, as Real Ideas today announces the launch of CreaTech Cornwall’s first cohort, a fully funded programme supporting early-stage creatives, freelancers, and startups working at the intersection of creativity and technology.

Led by Real Ideas, and partners Creative UK, Screen Cornwall, Tech Cornwall, and TecWomen, CreaTech Cornwall offers tailored incubation designed to help emerging talent thrive in one of the UK’s fastest-growing sectors.

The initial cohort of 15 innovators will benefit from expert mentoring, workshops on IP, finance and sustainability, access to immersive domes and digital fabrication tools, plus micro seed funding to help bring bold ideas to life. Recruitment for a new intake also opens in September.

Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and managed by Cornwall Council via the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme, CreaTech Cornwall reflects a shared commitment to driving innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable growth in the region.

Cornwall is increasingly recognised as a hub for creative and immersive innovation. The programme accelerates ideas in immersive media, digital storytelling, animation, AI, games and VR/AR. Participants will have opportunities to showcase at industry events including Slush’d Cornwall and the Creative UK Summit.

The programme fosters an inclusive ecosystem where early-stage creatives, including female founders supported through TecWomen UPLIFT, can build confidence and experiment in a competitive landscape.

This diverse cohort includes artists, designers, creative technologists, and recent graduates working on projects ranging from immersive VR experiences that connect hospitalised children with nature, to biophilic design boosting wellbeing, and innovative XR digital exhibits.

Lindsey Hall, CEO, Real Ideas said: “Cornwall has extraordinary potential where creativity meets technology. Through CreaTech Cornwall, we’re nurturing bold new ideas and inclusive ecosystems where early-stage ventures can truly thrive.”
