This one-hour screening enables you to choose up to 45 minutes of content.

Please note: these bookings are for schools, educational institutions and community groups working with people under the age of 18 years old. There is a minimum booking of 15 places required and a maximum capacity of 70 people in the dome. These sessions cost £5.00 per pupil with up to 10 accompanying adult tickets available for free.

Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure

Get a view of the fascinating universe of insects magnified up to 250,000 times their normal size in Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure.

Become immersed in a miniature world, where a leaf weighs as much as a car and a single raindrop can quench the largest thirst.

Highlighting the extraordinary world of insects, Bugs! focuses on the life cycles of a praying mantis and a butterfly from their birth to their inevitable encounter in the tropical rainforest of Southeast Asia, where predator meets prey.

Experience the Sound

For more than 100 years, from the early days of black and white silent film to sound, colour and now 360 degrees, moving images have recorded Plymouth’s relationship with the ocean.

With support from the British Film Institute Audience Fund and National Lottery, Real Ideas and The Box have partnered to re-imagine rarely seen moving image and paper materials from the South West Film and Television Archive into a stunning fulldome film that explores Plymouth’s strong connection to The Sound.

There will be event photography taking place and an opportunity to give feedback after you’ve seen the film. Everyone is welcome to attend however the film may be more suited to adults.

This project is supported by the BFI Audience Fund awarding funds from the National Lottery.

Follow The Water

Follow The Water created by Sound View Media in Plymouth, is a ‘real world’ 360-degree video experience. It has been designed to make the very most of the dome, with no distinct ‘front’, so prepare to look around!

The experience is comprised of 5 chapters: Falling Water, Running Water, By the Water, On The Water and Wildlife and Water.

Falling Water: Beginning on the top of a mountain, experience water falling from the sky. Experience the sounds of thunder, rain and wind before being transported to a stunning waterfall.

Running Water: Featuring rivers, streams and a journey of water towards the ocean. Experience water moving at different paces before being immersed in the sound of the water flow and the natural environment surrounding you.

By The Water: Experience the joy of the seaside, from the comfort of the dome. With a bright sun above you and a vast open space surrounding you. Explore the depths of a rockpool with brightly coloured seaweed, and hear the wind and the waves in the background.

On The Water: How do humans interact with water? A mixture of fast and slow movements enable you to experience activities on the water, including paddle boarding, gig rowing, canoeing and a horse-drawn barge.

Finally, the piece ends with Wildlife and Water. A beautiful showcase of the wonderful wildlife that can be found living by oceans and rivers in other parts of the world. See elephant seals up close and watch penguins play on the sand!

This show is great for showing the water cycle in real life, and for giving those who may not be able to take part in water activities, such as paddle-boarding, the chance to experience it in 360.

Back To The Moon For Good

The show opens with the first era of space exploration in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We see what that era of landers and orbiters taught us about our nearest neighbour including the discovery of the Moon’s origin, composition, structure and the accessibility of raw materials on its surface.

The Google Lunar XPRIZE is designed to democratize space and create new opportunities for eventual human and robotic presence on the Moon. We see the engineering and innovation steps taken by the internationally distributed teams competing to land a spacecraft on the Moon. Combined with custom-created spatial audio, the experience begins with colourful flecks of light that gently grow and evolve into a beautiful bioluminescent symphony which then calmly wind down to a tranquil ending.

DINOSAURS: A Story of Survival

Like almost all children, Celeste is fascinated with dinosaurs.

She is preparing a talk for her class about how they went extinct when Moon, a very wise and magical character, poses a tantalizing question: what if I told you that there are still dinosaurs among us?

Celeste will join Moon in a journey through time. An exciting adventure that will show them the Earth as it was in the very, very distant past.

They will see the fascinating transformations that these animals underwent over millions of years, creating giant creatures, armoured beasts and super predators, until the day that a cataclysmic impact event caused a mass extinction on Earth.

But all is not lost. Celeste will discover the key to their survival.

Kari Byron from Crash Test World and MythBusters launches us on a journey beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program is the next step in our mission to explore the universe and land the first woman and person of colour on the surface of the Moon.

Into the Fruit Bowl

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in the centre of a watermelon, an orange, or a lemon?

The prospect that we may not be alone in the universe is taken as a fact by the movies, writers and a great many scientists.

As yet, we have no hard evidence of another living thing outside Planet Earth.

S.E.T.I. – The Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence explores all sides of this topic, from the planets we are finding around other stars, to the feasibility of travelling to these stars.

Tim Peake’s International Space Station Tour

Working together with British Association of Planetaria, NSC Creative has produced a short immersive 360 experience which takes the viewer around the ISS (International Space Centre) to see what it is like to live and work in space. Narrated by British Astronaut Tim Peake who has successfully completed his 6 month Principia mission. We also get to see footage of Tim onboard the ISS specifically for this project.

The project was supported by the UKSA (UK Space Agency) and ESA (European Space Agency) with additional support from Explorer Dome, Centre for Life and the National Space Centre.
